  • Arsenal set lose star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona

    Reports from Spain claimed Pierre-Emerick Emiliano Francois Aubameyang has made a decision to join FC Barcelona when the summer transfer window opens. According to the reports the player has made the decision after reviewing Arsenal's new contract proposal to tie him down to a new term. 

    Arsenal have missed out three consecutive years of UEFA Champions league football. The football club mainly depends on this competitions revenue for several years in the past while building their new stadium. But the absence in this competition did not only have financial impacts rather it also has negative effect to attract established stars. One of the main headache for the club is to renew players contracts. Most of the players who established them selves in the first team are on their final 18 months of their current contract.  
    It has been a headache for the football club in the past when it comes to player contract renewal as many players left for relatively lower fee to opponent teams. Some of the players that can be mentioned in this regard are: Samir Nasri moving to Manchester City, Robin Van Persie joining Manchester United and others. All these players left the club when their remaining contract is just 12 months. So it will take a massive effort to convince and ensure Aubemyang wears the north Londoners red and white jersey the coming season.

    In other sport news, Manchester United's January recruit Portuguese star Bruno Fernades wins player of the month for the club and PFA. He has also won the player of the month award for February in the premier league. He is the third Portuguese player to win the award after Cristiano Ronaldo and Deco with Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

  • Potential Corona Virus (COVID-19) vulnerabilities in Ethiopia

    Ethiopia is one of the most populous countries in Africa just behind Nigeria. The country is also one of the poorest in the entire continent. It is not easy to get access for information, education and health across the country. Only the main cities have relatively better access to electricity, health, water and internet.

    As the politics in the country is at its more worrying time there are areas which are ruled under state of emergency. Some parts of Oromia regional state such as Wollega zones and Guji zone. 

    In these two areas there is no access to basic telephone service and total internet shut down for more than six months now. The reason the government raises is that it is a way to control rebel groups in the country.

    As per WHO (the World Health Organization), governments should provide necessary information to battle the recently out break world pandemic virus named 'CORONA / COVID-19'. 

    But as it stands now it is almost impossible for the areas mentioned above to get the necessary information as well as access to health center even if they are found positive to the virus. This needs a public attention in pushing the government to open up both telephone service and internet access to the citizens.

    There are some tips Ethiopian government provided while announcing that schools closed and as well large gatherings are banned for the next two weeks.

    Liverpool leading Bournemouth at half time

    AFC Bournemouth started the game in the best possible way as they went in front after just 9 minutes when they scored from a counter attack. Few minutes later they could have a second goal when Nathan Akes' header was wonderfully saved by Allison Becker.

    Liverpool came to life when Bournemouth defense carelessly gave away the ball to the onrushing Sadio Mane from which Mohammed Salah able to score a goal that lifted the mood inside Anfield stadium after two consecutive defeat and scoring no goal in the process.

    Sadio Mane added the second goal before half time when VVD's waited perfect pass found him. He made no mistake in putting the ball behind the helpless goal keeper to put Liverpool ahead before break.

    As it stands Liverpool have a better chance of grabbing the three points which will put them much closer to the likely winnable premier league trophy for the first time in thirty years time.

    Liverpool have won a second record times of the league trophy just one behind Man United winning nineteen times.

    Arsenal won 4 by 0 against Newcastle.
    Liverpool continued the winning streak.
    Manchester United did double against Chelsea.
    VAR controversy in a match of the week.

    It was a weekend full of emotions. Football fans across the world kept their eye on EPL after missing out one weekend due to teams scheduled for resting.

    Arsenal are the best team that can go head to head against any team in the world on their day. It was a day full of two different halves. The first half was basically remembered for the teams effort but with no plan. Even Newcastle had the chance to score a couple of goals and punish the gunners if it was their day.

     

    On the second half it was a totally different to the first period. It was all Arsenal opening up spaces moments after moments. Ozil was orchestrating the attack. He was supported by attack minded midfielders in dani Cebalos and Granite Xhaka.

    Arsenals commitment for attack was rewarded when Nicolas Pepe cross was headed to the back of the net by Gabonese International Per Emerick Aubemayang. He has scored his 15th in the premiership and put Arsenal in front after the break. It was quick nutmeg and swift cross by raising youngster Bukayo Saka which Nicolas Pepe puts in the net to make the score line 2 by 0 in favor of Arsenal.

    On the 90th minute Mesut Ozil scored after a wonderful move that involved all the players including the goal keeper. The goal was assisted by Alexandre Lacazette. Ozil scored his goal after more than 10 months. Then in the final minutes of the match Lacazette scored his goal after a fine assist by Pepe. On this game Ozil, Pepe and Saka were praised for their fine display by their supporters and coach Mikel Arteta.

    On another note Man United has won at Bridge by scoring two goals through martial and Maguire. Chelsea has also scored two goals but both goals were cancelled by VAR as they are ruled out to be offside.

    Liverpool won at Norwich in a game that seemed to end goalless for 70 minutes. It was an amazing goal from Sadio Mane to give a sweet victory for Liverpool. Now this team looks like destined to lift the trophy after more than 30 years in their bid for 20th league title which put them equal with Man United.
